Saipan - Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds has announced the start of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for high school students across the Commonwealth.

“This will be the second year I will be hosting the competition, and I am excited to see what our high school students in the Marianas have in store,” Congresswoman King-Hinds said. “We had a strong number of submissions last year, and I was impressed by the level of talent. I’m hoping to see even more participation this year.”

We are excited to see our beloved CNMI hot pepper, the donne’ sali, recently featured in an article highlighting new research from Virginia Tech.  The study explores how these peppers, a staple across the Marianas and especially familiar to those of us from Tinian, may be shaped by their unique relationship with island birds.  The name donne’ sali itself reflects this connection.  In Chamorro, “donne’” means pepper, and “sali” refer
