His continued service to our community is something to be proud of.
We welcomed Jillian Angeline, former KSPN 2 News and Saipan Tribune reporter, to the Washington congressional office on Friday. During her years in the Marianas, Jillian covered stories across our islands and built lasting friendships that she continues to cherish. She is now in Washington for a conference through her current role as Sales Manager for Commercial and Public Safety at EagleNXT. It was great to reconnect with someone who maintains such strong ties to the Northern Mariana Islands. Hafa Adai, Jillian, and thank you for stopping by.
I joined the Northern Marianas Humanities Council last week in proclaiming October as Humanities Month in the CNMI! I think back to the year we have had and the struggles our people continue to face. Through it all, I think there is a real purpose for the humanities in helping us understand the history that has brought us to where we are today, the people and communities around us, and how we imagine our path forward. The humanities give us an opportunity to reflect on our experiences, learn from one another, and better understand the stories and ideas that shape our islands.

The Northern Mariana Islands Judiciary has been awarded $618,481 through the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance Veterans Treatment Court Program to establish the Commonwealth's first Veterans Treatment Court. The four-year award will support the planning and implementation of a specialized veterans treatment track within the Mental Health Court, with the goal of expanding into a standalone Veterans Treatment Court program as capacity grows.

Every year, it is so important to me to participate in marking Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Surviving domestic violence takes tremendous strength, and I believe our community has an important role to play in standing behind survivors and those who have been impacted by abuse. We want every survivor to know that they are not alone, that we have their back, and that there are people ready to help. This month is also about reminding our entire community that domestic violence has no place in our islands, and that each of us has a responsibility to help put an end to it.

Improving access to VA healthcare and services here at home has been one of my priorities since taking office. Our veterans deserve access to the care they have earned without having to travel thousands of miles to receive it.
