A recently featured World War II notebook from the copilot of the Enola Gay offers a powerful reminder of a moment that changed the course of world history. Capt. Robert A. Lewis recorded his firsthand reaction after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, writing the now-famous words, “My God what have we done.” That notebook has now been listed for sale with an asking price of about $950,000. Today, the Enola Gay, which departed from Tinian in 1945, is displayed at the Steven F.
This spring, we are hosting Harper intern Shreya Adusumilli in the DC congressional office. The Gregg and Livingston Harper Congressional Internship Program provides students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Congress. In partnership with George Mason University’s LIFE Program, nearly 200 House and Senate offices have participated, expanding access to meaningful educational and professional opportunities on Capitol Hill. University of Guam Sea Grant Director Dr. Austin Shelton and Associate Director (and former Saipan resident) Fran Castro visited with me on Tuesday while in DC for the annual meetings of the National Sea Grant Association. They are also meeting with other Members of Congress to advocate for FY 2027 funding for the national Sea Grant program in the upcoming appropriations bills.
