The CNMI Judiciary is receiving $252,159 in FEMA funding for emergency protective measures taken in response to Super Typhoon Sinlaku. FEMA is covering 100% of the eligible project costs, with no local match required. This funding will help support measures taken to protect public health, safety, and property in the immediate aftermath of the storm. We’re glad to see the federal government providing the full support needed to help our institutions respond and recover from Sinlaku.
Mount Carmel School is receiving $150,533 in FEMA funding to help replace campus contents damaged by Super Typhoon Sinlaku. FEMA is covering 90% of the $167,259 project cost under the federal disaster recovery program. We’re glad to see this support helping Mount Carmel recover from the storm and restore the school’s facilities and resources for our students and teachers.
The CNMI Public School System has been awarded a $669,653 AmeriCorps State and National grant for fiscal year 2026. The funding will support 85 AmeriCorps volunteers through the Public School System AmeriCorps program, empowering them to deliver evidence-based programs that strengthen our community, ranging from youth mental health initiatives to workforce development.

The CNMI is receiving more than $2.7 million in additional FEMA funding to cover eligible costs associated with the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 emergency response. The larger award provides $2.33 million at a 100% federal cost share to the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) for emergency protective measures carried out between July 2020 and December 2021.

A $250,180 FEMA grant will fund backup generators and emergency power systems for Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) lift stations and water facilities across the CNMI. The generators will provide critical backup power to help maintain water services during power outages and emergencies. The project has a total estimated cost of $1.22 million and is funded through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program under Section 404 of the Stafford Act, following Super Typhoon Yutu. This investment will help keep essential water services running when the CNMI needs them most.
