Huge shoutout to Airman First Class Benedict M. Obando for his outstanding achievements at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas for completing an intensive seven-week munitions technical training program, and graduating as one of the top graduates of his class. He also earned the prestigious Ammo Warrior Award, a recognition that had not been presented in four years. This award is reserved for airmen who exemplify excellence, professionalism, and commitment to mission readiness.
A team from the US Department of State – Bureau of Consular Affairs - Passport Services and the Honolulu Passport Agency were in the Northern Marianas this week to visit the CNMI Acceptance Office and other local leaders. Our warmest thanks to Isaac, Philip, Melissa, Joe, and Mike for dropping by the Congressional office on Saipan to meet with our casework team and having a very valuable discussion about how we can work together to better inform and serve our community.
I had the opportunity to connect virtually this week with a friend and former resident of the Marianas, Sophia Perez. Sophia is an incredibly talented writer and researcher who has contributed to many important issues, both during her time as a journalist on island and now as a researcher. She currently serves as the Indigenous Technologies Coordinator at the Berkeley Center for New Media, while also pursuing her PhD in Geography.
Returning resident Ms. Virginia “Ginny” Camacho dropped by the Saipan District Office this week to share her three ideas about how we can grow our economy. Ms. Camacho had worked extensively in the commerce and tourism industry while living in California and has returned home to enjoy the next chapter of her life. Thanks for visiting Ginny!
