In Rota, I also toured the Rota Aging Center to see how it was utilized as a shelter during Super Typhoon Sinlaku. I was encouraged to see the facility in good condition and functioning as an important place of safety for residents during the storm. I met with Valerie Apatang, who manages the center, and expressed my appreciation for her leadership and the care provided to our elders and community members. Facilities like this play a critical role in serving our seniors day-to-day, and also in providing refuge when emergencies arise.
