This week, we’d like to highlight Technical Sergeant Consuelo C. Maratita from Rota who was selected as the U.S. Air Force Academy’s sole STEP (Stripes for Exceptional Performers) promotee for 2025.  STEP promotions are among the most competitive in the Air Force, reserved for service members who demonstrate exceptional leadership and performance.  TSgt Maratita, assigned to the 10th Medical Group in Colorado Springs, was also named 2025 DRU Laboratory NCO of the Year.  The CNMI is proud of her service and commitment to excellence in the U.S.

On Wednesday, I spoke with Seth Bailey, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Island Affairs in the State Department’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. We discussed a range of issues affecting the Marianas and the broader Pacific region, including regional security dynamics, U.S. engagement with Pacific Island partners, and opportunities to strengthen economic development in the Marianas. I also raised priorities specific to the CNMI and explored ways the State Department can further support stability, prosperity, and U.S.
