Washington - Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds has called on the Department of Defense to ensure that its Indo-Pacific strategy reflects not only a security presence in the Northern Mariana Islands but also meaningful local economic engagement. In a formal letter sent to Rear Admiral Joshua Lasky, Commander of Joint Task Force Micronesia, the Congresswoman raised concerns about recent decisions that appear to exclude the CNMI from programs designed to ensure defense investments benefit host communities.

Washington – Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds confirmed today that the U.S. Department of Education has released the previously withheld portion of the Consolidated Grant funding for the CNMI Public School System, resolving a month-long delay that had placed critical education programs under significant strain.

Saipan – Congresswoman King-Hinds invites residents from the Northern Mariana Islands to participate in the “From the Hill to the Vill: Community Conversations”, a public forum series aimed for open and transparent dialogue between constituents and their congressional representative following her first seven months in Congress. 

These events will take place on Rota, Tinian and Saipan, offering community members the opportunity to share their concerns, ideas, and feedback directly with Congresswoman King-Hinds.

Washington - Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds announced that four of her Community Project Funding (CPF) requests have been included in House appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2026, bringing about $5.5 million in direct federal support to the Northern Mariana Islands.

 The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development approved $2 million for the Commonwealth Department of Public Works to continue work on Route 36 (Chalan Kalabera), supporting access and resiliency improvements to this key Saipan project.

Washington – Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds sent a formal request to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent seeking clarification on how the department applies Section 703(b) of the CNMI’s Covenant with the United States of America. The section requires that federal income taxes and other federal revenues derived from sources in the CNMI be returned to the CNMI Treasury.
