“You didn’t just become a citizen. You are now part of the American story"

This week, I had the great honor of welcoming our nation’s newest citizens during the Naturalization Ceremony at the NMI District Court. These ceremonies are always powerful—celebrations of perseverance, determination, and the enduring promise that America holds for people around the world. It’s easy to take our citizenship for granted. But witnessing individuals work so hard to become a part of this country reminds us what it truly means to belong to a nation built on shared values and hope. I was deeply grateful for the opportunity to share a few words with these new Americans and to welcome them into the fabric of our national story. I look forward to all they will contribute—as citizens, neighbors, and stewards of the future we build together.
