Republic of the Marshall Islands Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Kalani Kaneko, and Senator and Special Envoy for Compact Implementation, Wilbur Heine, met with me on Wednesday in Washington. Our discussion focused on implementation of the 2024 Compact of Free Association (COFA) agreements with the United States, as well as the shared challenge of ensuring U.S. veterans returning to the Republic of the Marshall Islands can reliably access Department of Veterans Affairs services. Thank you for your visit. I look forward to continuing our collaboration to strengthen support for veterans and improve conditions across Micronesia.
