Working Together for the CNMI
I was honored to welcome Representative Marissa Flores of the Northern Marianas Commonwealth Legislature and House legal counsel Joe Taijeron to the U.S. Capitol last month while they were in Washington, D.C. for the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) Capital Forum. We had a meaningful conversation about the challenges facing the Commonwealth, from economic concerns to ways Congress and the federal government can provide support during this time. It was good to hear their perspectives and share ideas on how we can work together for the people of the CNMI. I also had the pleasure of giving them a Member-led, behind-the-scenes tour of the Capitol. It is critical for CNMI leaders to build strong connections and work together to support our people.
