Working to Improve the VA Home Loan Program

This past week, the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity met to discuss the VA Home Loan Program for the first time since 2024. My colleagues and I spoke with VA witnesses to learn how we can improve this program through meaningful legislation. Of course, I discussed my bill, H.R. 3720, the Heroes Owning and Materializing Equity Act. This bill, also called the HOME Act, would offer financial counseling services to veterans in the process of buying a home. Further, this bill will create a database of homes adapted to meet the needs of disabled veterans for veterans to utilize when house hunting.
