Welcoming WestCare Pacific’s Work in the CNMI
It is always encouraging to see members of our community come together around a shared purpose. I had the chance this week to meet with members of the CNMI effort to introduce the work of WestCare Pacific and to learn more about their goals for expanding services in our islands. WestCare Pacific is part of the WestCare Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that began in 1973 and now operates across numerous states and territories, including Guam, Palau, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Their work has long focused on prevention, treatment, and recovery services for individuals and families facing substance use challenges. During our conversation, we discussed the need for these kinds of services in the CNMI and ways my office may be able to assist as the organization explores opportunities to serve our community. Thank you to WestCare Pacific Community Advisory Council members Kimberly Camacho, Tiffany Crisostimo, and Dr. Lawrence Camacho for sharing your plans and for the work you are doing to bring these resources to our islands.
