Last week I published an op-ed in the Washington Examiner titled “Roads to Readiness: Territorial Infrastructure is a Strategic Imperative,” where I make the case that infrastructure policy must reflect the full scope of America’s national security interests, including in our commonwealths and territories.  Too often, surface transportation debates focus only on congestion and domestic mobility.  But for the CNMI and other territories, roads, ports, and logistics systems are not just economic assets, they are essential to military readiness, disaster response, and America’s strategic posture in the Indo-Pacific and Caribbean.  This op-ed brings that message to a national audience and calls for a stronger, more realistic approach to how federal transportation investments are structured.  We’re grateful for the partnership of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers in helping elevate this conversation about the importance of resilient, forward-looking infrastructure policy for both national security and economic strength.
