USPS Response to Mail Delays

Mail delays in the CNMI have been frustrating for many, and I raised this issue directly with USPS leadership in June. I’m glad to report that USPS has acknowledged the problem and begun corrective action. Their internal review found that some CNMI-bound mail was wrongly shipped by sea instead of by air, causing delays of up to 8 to 10 weeks. As of July 1, USPS processing centers have been directed to properly route Priority Mail and lightweight packages by air. This is a step in the right direction toward ensuring the Marianas receives the same level of service as everywhere else in the United States. I’ll be keeping a close watch to make sure these changes stick.
