Things You Should Know: Changes to Non-Immigrant Visa Processes
I wanted to let you know that there have been several recent changes to non-immigrant visa rules and procedures that everyone should be aware of. For example, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has once again changed the filing location for Form I-129CW and no longer accepts cash payments, including checks or money orders. In addition, applicants for non-immigrant visas must now apply at the U.S. embassy or consulate in the country where they are a citizen or resident. These updates mean it is not business as usual, and some of the difficulties people are experiencing can be avoided by double-checking the latest guidance before applying. I recommend regularly checking the USCIS website or the U.S. State Department’s visa bulletins for the most up-to-date information or call your congressional office, and we can help find the answers you need.
