Supporting Responsible Innovation in Tinian’s Digital Currency Launch

Following the official minting of the Marianas U.S. Dollar (MUSD), I sent a letter to Mayor Edwin Aldan and Chairman Jude Hofschneider to commend Tinian’s bold step into the digital economy. The creation of a municipally issued stablecoin is a historic first for the CNMI and represents a forward-looking approach to economic diversification and financial transparency. While MUSD is a local initiative, it enters a national policy landscape that is still evolving, and my letter encourages ongoing collaboration to ensure the project is developed with adequate regulatory safeguards that align with emerging federal standards. Ensuring consumer protection, system stability, and long-term viability must remain top priorities as this initiative progresses.
