On Thursday, I had the privilege of volunteering at a United Service Organizations (USO) care package assembly event, helping prepare 2,000 toiletry packages for deployed and deploying service members.  Programs like this have a long history of keeping our troops connected to home, tracing back to 1941 when Americans first packed “tastes of home” for those serving abroad.  For the CNMI, supporting our service members is deeply personal.  Many of our island families have loved ones in uniform, and events like this provide a tangible way to show gratitude and encouragement to those serving in remote and challenging locations.  I am proud to stand with the USO and our military families in expressing our appreciation and ensuring that our troops feel the support of home, no matter where duty takes them.
