Supporting Families Through Nutrition Assistance

On Tuesday, we met with Administrator Margaret Aldan and Manager Annie Reyes of the Nutrition Assistance Program while they were in Washington, DC for official business.  We discussed the transition to the EBT system, which began in October 2025.  The NAP program is fully funded through the end of FY 2026, even in the event of a government shutdown.  We also reviewed efforts to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse, ongoing vendor evaluations, and the importance of supporting local producers through the 70/30 purchasing requirement.  We ask for the public’s continued patience as this transition moves forward, and we remain committed to ensuring this program serves qualified families efficiently and responsibly.
