Supporting the Disability Community in the CNMI
Sat down for discussion with (L-R) Pam Sablan, Eileen Babauta, Arlene Yamagata, and Lou Atalig.

On Wednesday afternoon, I had the opportunity to meet with leaders and agencies working to support the disability community in the CNMI. I sat down with Eileen Babauta (CNMI University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities), Pamela Sablan (CNMI Developmental Disabilities Council), and Arlene Yamagata and Lou Atalig (CNMI Office of Vocational Rehabilitation) to discuss how my Congressional Office can support their ongoing efforts. Our conversation covered key initiatives, including Home and Community-Based Services, Respite Care for Caregivers, and the Disability Innovation Fund. We also addressed the recent federal pause on financial assistance and how crucial federal funding is for their operations and the disability community in the CNMI. Thank you for your time and for the important work you do to support individuals with disabilities in our islands!
