As Super Typhoon Sinlaku struck the Commonwealth on Tuesday, I rose on the House floor with my heart back home in the CNMI. Families on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota were sheltering from catastrophic winds, storm surge, and flooding, and like so many in our community, I was praying for their safety. We need a swift, coordinated federal response when disasters of this magnitude hit our small, remote islands. I highlighted the need for long-term investments in resilient infrastructure, and I asked my colleagues and the American people to keep the CNMI in their thoughts as we focus on safety now, recovery in the days ahead, and resilience for the future.  May God continue to watch over the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
