Small Business Committee Markup
On Wednesday my colleagues on the Small Business Committee and I voted to advance three bipartisan bills to the full House. Two of these bills would enact measures to combat fraud in Small Business Administration lending. H.R. 7401, the Small Lending Fraud Prevention Act, would require SBA employees who process loans to certify beforehand that they do not have any conflicts of interest. H.R. 7412, the Put America on Commission Act of 2026, would establish an Office of Whistleblower Awards at the SBA that would examine reports of SBA loan fraud by the public and distribute monetary rewards upon conviction resulting from the information provided. Finally, H.R. 7396, Native American Entrepreneurial Opportunity Act, would codify the Office of Native American Affairs at the SBA, add new reporting requirements and add a sunset provision in seven years that would force Congress to evaluate the work of the office at that time.
