Small Business Committee Hearing on the Chinese Communist Party
On Wednesday the Small Business Committee held a hearing entitled “Defending Main Street: Combating the CCP Threats to American Small Business”. The witnesses discussed both the vulnerabilities small businesses face from Chinese economic statecraft, but also what proactive measures the U.S. government should be taking to better help American small businesses compete with China’s extensive economic support scheme for their own small businesses in critical sectors. I questioned the witnesses on how the federal government could assist the CNMI government and small businesses to better evaluate potential national security risks from foreign investment, to add more certainty for local businesses and foreign investors, and to enhance our national security.
