Small Business Committee Crime Hearing and Red Tape Bill
On Tuesday, I attended the Small Business Committee’s hearing entitled “Main Street Under Attack: The Cost of Small Crime on Small Business”. Hearing from trade association members and a small business owner, we learned about the cumulative impact small-scale retail theft has on small businesses over time, as well as the cyber vulnerabilities that can affect them in ways they may not even realize.
Also this week, H.R. 2965, the Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act of 2025, for which I am an original cosponsor along with Representative Beth Van Duyne, passed favorably out of the House. The bill requires the SBA to report annually on the regulatory costs on small businesses, to expose and limit the impact excessive red tape and compliance costs have on small businesses across America. I look forward to working with the Committee to achieve its passage through the Senate and into law.
