On Wednesday, I spoke at the House Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment during testimony from Adam Telle, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, and Lt. Gen. William Graham, Jr., Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  I raised the urgent need for federal partnership on shoreline protection at Micro Beach, dredging at Smiling Cove Marina, and port improvements in Rota.  These projects are critical to safeguarding our community, infrastructure, and economy.  I urged the Corps to commit coastal engineering support, streamline permitting, and work closely with FEMA and CNMI agencies so that these priorities move forward without delay.  I also personally invited the Corps’ leadership to visit the CNMI so they can see these challenges firsthand and better understand the urgency of our needs.
