As our community begins to recover from the impacts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, we’ve been encouraged by stories that remind us of the strength and resilience of the people of the CNMI, wherever they may be. We recently read about the opening of Bubl Cups in Port Orchard, Washington, the city’s first bubble tea shop, co-founded by Heatherlyn Lizama and her family, including her husband who is originally from Tinian. At a time when the CNMI is working through storm recovery, it’s meaningful to see members of our diaspora carrying forward the values of hard work, family, and perseverance. The Lizama family’s journey, growing from a small popup into a permanent storefront, reflects the same determination we are seeing at home as our islands begin to rebuild. Stories like this serve as a quiet reminder that the CNMI community is strong and connected, even across great distances. Best wishes to the Lizama’s on the opening of Bubl Cups!
