Restarting the Conversation on CNMI Immigration
I sent out a call to community and government organizations to reopen a long-overdue conversation this week on what happens after the CNMI’s immigration transition period ends in 2029. The phase-out of programs like the CNMI-Only Transitional Worker (CW-1) visa is just four years away, and we can’t afford to wait until the last minute to plan for what comes next. I’ve shared a framework that outlines the kind of system I think we should work toward, and I’m inviting everyone to weigh in. This conversation needs to be open, honest, and community-driven. Your input is critical. Please take a look at the proposal and send your thoughts to kinghinds@mail.house.gov. We’re collecting feedback through July 11, 2025, and I look forward to hearing from you. |
