Recognizing Lauren Cabrera and Her Impact on CNMI Animals
As we celebrate Thanksgiving week, we want to take a moment to express our deep gratitude for someone whose compassion and determination continue to uplift our community: Lauren Cabrera, founder of the Saipan Humane Society. Lauren was recently featured in an in-depth profile by My Vet Candy, highlighting her remarkable work in a community that has gone too long without a resident veterinarian. When faced with that gap in care, Lauren stepped up, treating sick and injured animals, providing essential services to thousands of pets each year, and building partnerships that have saved precious pet lives. Her leadership in launching the Boonie Flight Project, which has flown hundreds of boonie dogs to loving homes across the country, has brought national attention to an issue our community knows well. And now, as she begins veterinary school at Washington State University with the goal of returning home as the CNMI’s first female resident veterinarian, Lauren is making an investment not just in her own future, but in ours. We are grateful for her service and look forward to welcoming her back to the islands, degree in hand, to continue the mission she started.
