On Monday, I introduced H.R. 3496, the Northern Mariana Islands Small Business Access Act, to address a longstanding inequity by extending eligibility for the Small Business Administration’s microloan program to the Marianas. This bill ensures that small businesses in our islands receive the same fair treatment and access to vital resources available throughout the rest of the nation. The chance to start and grow a small business is a fundamental pathway to achieving the American Dream. The SBA’s microloan program was designed to help everyday Americans by providing loans up to $50,000, enabling entrepreneurs to invest in inventory, supplies, machinery, equipment, and more. When our small businesses thrive, our communities thrive. Yet, this opportunity has not been equally accessible to all Americans. My bill rectifies this injustice by opening the door to entrepreneurship for every small business owner, regardless of where they operate.
