Meeting with U.S. State Department

Following the IGIA, I had the opportunity to participate in a U.S. State Department Briefing for Territorial Governors and Members of Congress. The meeting provided valuable insight into the State Department’s renewed diplomatic strategy in the Pacific and the emerging challenges facing our region. This discussion opened an important conversation about the role U.S. territories play in advancing American ideals among our Pacific neighbors. This meeting was an opportunity to emphasize a view I have long held—the best way to demonstrate American leadership in the region is by showcasing the strength of our economic system and the opportunities it creates for those aligned with our values. As discussions on regional diplomacy continue, I remain committed to ensuring that the CNMI plays an active role in shaping America’s engagement in the Pacific—while also working to align federal policy to position the CNMI as a shining example of economic success and opportunity in the region.
