We welcomed leaders from the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs to the office this week to talk about the wide range of services and programs the department provides across our islands. DCCA plays a vital role in our government, supporting programs that serve our people from early childhood through their golden years. Because many of the CNMI’s most important social services are housed within DCCA, their work depends heavily on coordination with federal programs. In times when local government resources are stretched, strong communication with federal partners becomes even more important. During our discussion we talked about the work of the Division of Youth Services, the Nutrition Assistance Program, and the Manamko Center, and how we can strengthen the network of care that supports our community. Thank you to Office on Aging Director Walter Manglona, DYS Director Vivian Sablan, NAP Administrator Margarita Torres-Aldan, and DCCA Secretary Frank Rabauliman for the thoughtful conversation and for the work you do for our islands.
