Meeting with Alzheimer’s Advocates on Expanding Support & Care
June 13, 2025
This week, I had the honor of meeting with advocates from the Alzheimer’s Association Hawaii Chapter, including Director of Public Policy and Advocacy Coby Chock and Executive Director LJ Duenas. We discussed federal policy priorities that directly impact our community, many of which align with my work on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. This was the Association’s first meeting ever with a Member of Congress from a U.S. Territory. Our elders are the heart of who we are, and it’s our duty to ensure they receive the care and support they deserve. Early detection for Alzheimer’s is costly, and for families in the CNMI, we must push for more affordable, accessible resources to address this growing health challenge.
