Liaising with the White House

Richard Chalkey, Special Assistant to the President in the Office of Legislative Affairs, visited the Congressional Office this week to talk all things CNMI. Richard is now our point person in the White House, and we discussed the pressing issues including impacts on mail service, the fragile state of our economy, the urgent need for more air service options, and the financial constraints facing the CNMI government. What made the meeting especially meaningful was that the conversation went both ways, focusing on both the action we can take for the CNMI’s recovery, and on how the Marianas can support the President’s agenda for the country. It was a great discussion, and I thank Richard for his service and partnership.
