James Beard Finalist Highlights Chamorro Chicken Kelaguen

We were very proud to see Chamorro culture and cuisine highlighted on Hawaii News Now by celebrated chef Sheldon Simeon, a James Beard Award finalist and Top Chef alum who is widely recognized as one of Hawaii’s most influential culinary voices. During the feature, Chef Simeon showcased chicken kelaguen, a beloved Chamorro dish with deep roots in the Marianas, from his new cookbook, Ohana Style. With thousands of Chamorros calling Hawaii home, it is encouraging to see our traditions and flavors being shared with a broader audience. We commend Chef Simeon for helping showcase the rich heritage of the Marianas and ensuring Chamorro culture continues to be celebrated across Hawaii and beyond.
