As our islands continue recovering from Super Typhoon Sinlaku, we want to recognize the important work being done by researchers and conservation partners studying the long-term impacts of these storms on the CNMI’s environment and wildlife. A recent University of Washington feature highlighted both the devastation caused by Sinlaku and the resilience of our islands, our people, and our ecosystems. Their work on Tinian and Rota underscores the unique challenges our communities face, from rebuilding critical infrastructure to protecting native species and forests increasingly threatened by stronger storms. We appreciate the researchers, local partners, and residents working together to better understand and preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Northern Marianas for future generations. Thank you, Huskies!
