Highlighting EDA Projects in the CNMI
On Thursday, I participated in the House Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management hearing with Ben Page, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Development and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). I highlighted EDA’s critical role in the CNMI, supporting projects like the Garapan Revitalization Project, Marpi Tourist Sites Improvements, Oleai Sports and Cultural Complex, Department of Finance Economic Resiliency Center, and workforce and educational facilities at Northern Marianas College, Northern Marianas Technical Institute, and the Public School System, amongst others. These investments create jobs, expand workforce training, and strengthen government capacity. I pressed EDA on project continuity, reimbursement processes, and staffing to ensure these vital projects are completed on time and without disruption.
