HCSB Hearing on Small Businesses in Rural and Isolated Areas

On Wednesday, I participated in the House Committee on Small Business hearing. The subject matter was on prioritizing small business growth. I explained to our witnesses and fellow Members of Congress, that the CNMI and other rural and isolated communities have unique circumstances that federal one-size-fits-all regulations don’t account for. The lifeblood of our nation’s economy is small businesses. We are seeing what the impacts are when small businesses are struggling, and it's our fight in Congress to ensure that businesses, employees, and the community are receiving support that understands what we are going through in the Marianas. The CNMI can be an amazing place to be an entrepreneur, but operating a business in our islands is already difficult. The federal government can and must do more to support our economy and the businesses and employees that make it work.
