On the Ground in Rota with Mayor Aubry
Rota has truly been a story of perseverance and determination following the impact of Super Typhoon Bavi. The storm caused considerable damage across the island, and much of that damage continues to make the work of recovery difficult. But that has not stopped the people of Rota from pushing forward. I saw that determination firsthand during my visit to Rota last week, where I met with Mayor Aubry Hocog to discuss the island's recovery from Bavi and the outstanding needs the community is working to address. Hearing directly from our local leaders and seeing the conditions on the ground are so important to the conversations I have with FEMA and the other federal agencies assisting with disaster recovery. It helps me better understand where progress is being made, where challenges remain, and where additional federal assistance may be needed. Thank you, Mayor Aubry, for all that you and your team are doing for Rota, and for taking the time to walk me through the challenges and opportunities to help move recovery forward.
