FY26 Appropriations Nears Finish Line
On Thursday, the House approved the remaining FY 2026 appropriations legislation, funding programs across the Departments of Defense, Transportation, Education, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and other federal agencies. H.R. 7148, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, also includes $2 million in Community Project Funding that I requested for our Department of Public Works. These funds will support the completion of Route 36 (Windward/Chalan Kalabera) Road, from Bird Island in Marpi to Talafofo Road. This marks the final installment of four earmarks I have successfully directed to our islands, totaling nearly $5.5 million. I look forward to continuing to secure federal project funding to strengthen infrastructure and support the communities of the Marianas in FY 2027. The appropriations package now goes to the Senate where it is expected to be quickly approved.
