We’re excited to share that the CNMI has received FEMA grants to strengthen our power infrastructure on Tinian and Saipan.  These awards, made to the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation, include total project costs of $1,068,322 for Phase 1 on Saipan and $1,695,482 for Phase 2 on Tinian, plus funding for project management costs.  The grants will fund the replacement of aging wooden power poles with durable concrete poles, along with design, survey, and geotechnical studies, making our power distribution networks more resilient against severe storms.  As a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management, which has jurisdiction over FEMA, I’m proud to support federal investments that strengthen the CNMI’s infrastructure and protect our communities.  These projects are 100% federally funded under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act.
