Embracing Pacific Ties

Esther Kiaʻāina, Honolulu City Councilmember and long-time friend of mine, visited with me Thursday while she was in Washington. Besides catching up, we discussed issues of mutual concern regarding the Pacific islands. Working for many years as a congressional staffer before serving as Assistant Secretary of the Office of Insular Areas under President Obama, Ms. Kiaʻāina has a wealth of knowledge and experience in insular issues – expertise I hope to learn from.
