DOT Secretary Duffy Testifies at T&I Hearing

On Wednesday I had the opportunity to question Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy during the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing on “Oversight of the Department of Transportation’s Policies and Programs and Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Request.” I asked the Secretary about the letter I sent to the Department of Transportation regarding their compliance with Annex VI, Article 6 of the U.S.-China Air Transport Agreement, an issue that directly impacts the Northern Marianas’ ability to restore direct air service for our tourism industry. In my letter sent earlier this year, I made clear that the CNMI must not be left behind when it comes to international air access from key tourism source markets. I appreciated the chance to press Secretary Duffy on this important matter and will continue pushing to ensure that the CNMI’s voice is heard when it comes to aviation policy.
