Discussing Birthright Citizenship with NPR

On Tuesday, I spoke with NPR reporter Juliana Kim to discuss issues impacting the CNMI and the broader national conversation on birthright citizenship.  During our discussion, I shared perspective on birthright citizenship in the CNMI, ongoing immigration challenges unique to our islands, and the severe economic conditions facing our workforce and recovery.  I emphasized the importance of grounding policy debates in facts, highlighting both misconceptions and the distinct circumstances facing the CNMI.  I appreciate the opportunity to ensure our community’s voice is part of the national dialogue.
