Continuing Resolution Now Law; $21.4M in Additional Medicaid Funding
The Commonwealth is set to receive an additional $21.4 million in federal Medicaid funding under a bipartisan continuing resolution approved overwhelmingly by the House on Tuesday. H.R. 6500, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2027, will fund the federal government through December 11, 2026, and has now been signed by the President. This critical funding will strengthen access to healthcare, support our healthcare providers, and help the Commonwealth recover from the impacts of recent natural disasters. I am grateful to House and Senate leadership for recognizing the CNMI’s needs following Super Typhoon Sinlaku, and to the CNMI Medicaid Agency for its hard work on this request. The CR also extends funding for essential federal programs, including highways and transit, FEMA recovery efforts, and veterans’ services, ensuring continuity as Congress works to finalize FY 2027 appropriations.
