Congressional Art Competition Winner

This week I had the pleasure of welcoming Hyunyu, So Young, and Jayu Choi to my D.C. office. Hyunyu Choi is a student at Saipan International School and was the CNMI’s winner for the Congressional Art Competition. The Congressional Art Competition is a program that was started in 1982 where each member of the House of Representative hosts an art competition for the high schools in their district. The winner, who is selected by a panel of local judges, gets to have their art hung in the U.S. Capitol for all to see for a year. Hyunyu’s work is titled “Culture Under the Promise” and explores the relationship between Chamorro and Carolinians generations.
