Real diversification takes coordination across both local and federal partners. The CNMI, along with the Commonwealth Economic Development Authority led by Executive Director Derek Sasamoto, has been working to expand how and where we promote opportunities in our islands. That kind of outreach is necessary if we want to bring in new industries. The work underway with Zo Motors is a good example of what that can look like. Their interest in developing automanufacturing in the CNMI points to a different kind of economic activity than what we have traditionally relied on. I had the chance this week to catch up with Frank McMahon  and Derek to talk through where federal agencies intersect with their plans and how my office can help navigate those processes. I appreciate Frank and Derek taking the time to stop by.
