CNMI Design Featured in America250 Cake Project

As part of the America 250 semiquincentennial celebrations, I was honored to take part in a unique artistic tribute marking our nation’s 250th birthday.  In partnership with America250 and award-winning fine art cake artist Grace “Grey” Pak, best known for her work featured on Netflix’s Is It Cake?, each Member of Congress was invited to contribute a symbolic design representing their district.  For the CNMI, we chose the latte stone, a symbol of our Chamorro heritage and cultural identity.  We also incorporated flowers from the Refaluwasch mwar mwar.  It was a good opportunity to ensure that the CNMI’s history, culture, and people are represented in this national commemorative project.
