Close Up students make their mark on Capitol Hill

Twelve students from high schools across the Marianas and their chaperones visited their congressional office in Washington this week. They were participants of the Close Up Foundation civics program providing education on history, government, current issues, and their role as citizens. Auriela Feger, Miragrace Rose Tupas, Marisa Wang, Billie Pangelinan, McKelly Reyes, Tiana Aldan, Paseva Ngotel, Jireh Cruz, Carlos Calvo, Nathalie Matsunaga, Tristan Josef Sablan, and Patricia Denielle Lugtu, along with chaperones Vinni Orsini and Elsie San Nicolas, brought pride, curiosity, and insightful ideas for enhancing and developing our islands. I’m grateful to these young future leaders for sharing their voices and commitment to our home. Keep asking questions, speaking up, and showing up for your community because the Marianas needs you.
