Since opening in 2018, Chochu Local has become a beloved small business in Portland, Oregon, proudly sharing Chamorro food and culture in the Pacific Northwest.  Owned by Joy and Mike San Nicolas, the food cart was recently featured in local Oregon news for its efforts to raise funds supporting Super Typhoon Sinlaku recovery efforts in Saipan, Tinian, and Chuuk.  Through their fundraiser at Rose City Food Park, Chochu Local donated proceeds and direct contributions to support relief efforts and free community meals for families impacted by the storm back home.  As a member of the House Small Business Committee, I am always proud to see entrepreneurs from the Marianas building successful businesses while continuing to give back to our islands.  We also want to thank Joy and Mike for promoting Chamorro food and culture, and for helping introduce more Americans to the Marianas as a destination that many across our country are still learning about.  We encourage anyone in the Portland area to stop by Chochu Local and support this outstanding Chamorro-owned small business.  Follow them on Instagram and Facebook for their latest news and offerings!
