On Wednesday, I had the privilege of chairing a hearing of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management to examine the future of federal real estate management and how we can reduce unnecessary costs for taxpayers.  We heard from General Services Administration Administrator Ed Forst, who outlined the agency’s plans to consolidate federal office space, eliminate underutilized buildings, and better manage the government’s real estate portfolio.  These discussions matter not only in Washington, but also in communities like the CNMI, where federal offices and services play an important role.  I emphasized the need for responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars while ensuring federal resources continue to support communities across the nation.
